[Introduction] Konichiwa! Bonjour! Aloha! So you want to get set up and connected to our Ventrilo server? Do not fret! Through this guide I will share with you how to download, install, set up your username, configure the connection, and even show you how to configure settings to improve your experience while using Ventrilo.
If you are unsure what Ventrilo is, here is a run down...
Ventrilo.com wrote:
Ventrilo 3.0.0 is the next evolutionary step of Voice over IP (VoIP) group communications software. Ventrilo is also the industry standard by which all others measure themselves as they attempt to imitate its features.
By offering surround sound positioning and special sound effects on a per user, per channel, per server or global configuration level the program provides each user the option to fully customize exactly how they wish to hear sounds from other users or events.
Ventrilo is best known for it's superior sound quality and minimal use of CPU resources so as not to interfere with day to day operations of the computer or during online game competitions. It is also preferred for the simple user interface that any first time computer user can very quickly learn because the most commonly used features are immediately visible and can be activated with a single click of the mouse.
What operating system am I using, and am I running the 64 bit version of it?
Well here are four different versions of the Ventrilo client you will, of course, need this to connect to our Ventrilo server.
Pick the one download that is shown for your operating system.
This one -- Windows 64bit - All 64bit platforms (Version 3.0.8)
This one -- Windows 32bit - XP, Vista, Windows 7 (Version 3.0.8)
This one -- Windows 9x/2000 - 95/98/ME and Windows 2000 (Version 3.0.8)
This one -- Mac OSX 10.4 or higher - 32bit (Version 3.0.13)
The page these links take you to is Ventrilo's disclaimer page, whenever you are ready to agree hit the button near the bottom of the page that says I Agree as shown below.
[Installing The Ventrilo Client] Now that you have downloaded the client you need to install it. Though do note that if you have any sort of previous versions of Ventrilo on your PC it will ask you if you want to uninstall the old version to replace with the newer version. If this is what you are wanting to do then you need to select Yes if not just hit No
If you didn't have a previous version it should now be having you going through the normal motions of installing pretty much of anything to your PC. Where do you want to install the client (Default location is fine, but if you have a more prefered spot feel free to move the location), if you accept Ventrilo's terms of service (ToS) after you read that you'll want to hit Agree if you accept or go ahead and close out of it if you do not wish to agree. If you have agreed then you should have one more Next and it should start installing.
This is the part that you tap your feet for a short time as it does it's magic.

Mission Complete
Now that it is installed it is time to run it and configure it..
[Configuring Ventrilo] Awh, the sweet success of having Ventrilo, now that you have it we'll need to configure a few things so you can connect, at this point you'll want to go ahead and open Ventrilo.
The next few portions will be broken down into little chapters.
[Configuring Your Username] So you have Ventrilo up and now you need to set up your username that will appear in Ventrilo. So it is not really advised to use a name that is unrecognizable for example, if you play Ash Realms and posted on the forums as say "Zod" it wouldn't be advised to use the username "AwesomeSpeedoFeet". You'll find this confuses most people when you aren't getting recongized you may get a lot of "Who are you" type things.
So now you should be looking at this..
It is finally time to set up your username for Ventrilo. So what you'll want to do is..
Hit - at the top just to the right of user name.
You should now be seeing..
Hit New - a new window will appear requesting what name you are wanting to choose.
Choose your name and hit Ok and you show now be staring at something like..
Hit Ok and boom you are done setting up your user name!
You should now be back at the main screen now, though now you'll notice your user name showing at the top.
Now it's time to set up your server connection. You should now see Server right under User Name.
Hit - at the top just to the right of server.
You should now be at this screen ..
You'll want to go ahead and hit New and yet again it'll ask you for a name. This is what the server will show up to you, this is completely up to you what you name. I named is Ash Realms.
Hit Ok - now it is time to actually enter the server connection info.
In the Hostname or IP area you need to put in : uranium.typefrag.com and in the Port Number area you need to put : 4911
Good Job!! You are almost done and ready to connect and start chatting up a [Bladestorm] (Bad joke.. I know)
Here we are once again..
You'll want to hit the Setup button and that'll open up a new screen which will look like.. Note: Image is larger then the others, so click to show it.
Now you'll notice I show two colored boxes. First make sure the Red Square area has a check mark by it. Then in the Blue Square area this is where you will click and choose which button you want to push and hold when you want to talk to people on Ventrilo. As you can see mine is set to Left Control, but you can set yours to whatever you want.
Let's recap what we have done. We have downloaded and installed Ventrilo. We have set up your user name and connection settings and even set up which hotkey you want to use when talking, what now?
You get to connect!
So go ahead and hit Connect
You're On!!
[Etc..] Thank you for Ash and HQ for working with me on the forums and website to make this notable and seen. Thank you for reading, I will add a guide how to turn up people individually and other things at a later date.
If you have any questions regarding this, feel free to ask in this thread or private message me on the forums or even just send a mail in game to Zod
Is your guild wanting a private channel to keep to yourselves? No problem! Again get a hold of me via Forum or In-game and I'll see about setting something up for you!

This player no longer plays Ash Realms, atleast for the time being, and isnt supporting the vent server anymore. However, I hear someone else has a public channel open, however I don't know the information, hopefully someone else can come along and post that for you.

Ask any Band of the Red Hand member in game for the Vent details. If anyone has them it's fine to post them here. I'm AFK for a bit and don't have the details available.
